Afghan Taliban Government Execute 3 Men in Public for Murder

Kabul, 12 April (www.deccanlive.com): In Afghanistan, the Taliban government publicly executed three men who were found guilty of murder.

According to a statement by the Supreme Court, two of the men were shot dead in front of a crowd in Qala-e-Naw, the capital of Badghis province, by a relative of the victims. The third man was executed in Zaranj, the capital of Nimroz province.

The court said the cases were carefully reviewed multiple times, and the death sentences were carried out as revenge, because the victims’ families refused to forgive the killers.

The executions took place on Friday, and people were invited to watch through a public announcement made on Thursday. With these, the number of public executions by the Taliban since they returned to power has reached 10.

The last public execution before this happened in 2024 in Gardez, where a killer was shot three times in the chest by a victim’s family member in front of thousands of people at a stadium.

Afghanistan continues to face serious economic and humanitarian crises, and global concerns are rising due to such events.
