US Military Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran Amid Rising Tensions

The United States military has launched fresh strikes on southern Iran, targeting missile installations and boats that were allegedly trying to place naval mines.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the attacks were carried out in “self-defense” to protect American forces from threats posed by the Iranian military.

CENTCOM spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins said the US military is continuing to defend its forces while also showing restraint during the ongoing ceasefire period.

The strikes reportedly targeted an area near Bandar Abbas, a major coastal city in southern Iran. Bandar Abbas is considered strategically important as it hosts an Iranian naval base near the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Iranian state media reported hearing explosions in Bandar Abbas, after which local authorities started investigations into the incident.

The latest attacks come at a time when Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said there has been some progress in talks with the United States. However, he also stated that no immediate agreement to end the conflict is expected.

So far, Iran has not officially responded to the recent US strikes. It also remains unclear how these attacks could affect any possible future peace agreement between the two countries.
