A group of Haj pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia staged a protest at Lucknow Airport on Tuesday, alleging that valuables had gone missing from their luggage.
The pilgrims, who arrived from Jeddah on Flynas flight XY-9062, reached Lucknow at around 1:30 PM. The flight carried 423 Haj pilgrims returning after completing their pilgrimage.
According to passengers, several bags were either missing or arrived with broken locks and damaged zippers. While collecting their baggage, some pilgrims discovered that valuable items were no longer inside their bags.
The affected passengers claimed that items such as perfumes, watches, veils, burqas, prayer mats, children’s toys, and other valuables were missing. One passenger alleged that both of his bags had not arrived at all.
Angry pilgrims gathered near the airline counter and demanded an explanation. The situation led to heated arguments between passengers and airline staff. Videos of the protest were later shared widely on social media.
In response, airline officials stated that some bags had exceeded the permitted weight limit and were therefore held back in Jeddah. They assured passengers that the remaining luggage would be sent on a later flight as soon as possible.
However, several pilgrims continued to maintain that valuables had been stolen from their baggage. Airport authorities later intervened and helped calm the situation.
No official complaint or investigation outcome had been announced at the time of reporting.
