Hyderabad | December 31, 2025 | DeccanLive.com
As Hyderabad prepares to welcome the New Year, Police Commissioner CV Anand (Sajjanar) has issued a strong warning to cab and auto drivers. He made it clear that no violations will be tolerated on December 31 and New Year’s Day.
With people planning late-night celebrations with family and friends, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs are getting ready for heavy crowds. Many people depend on cabs and autos, especially those who do not have personal vehicles or who consume alcohol during celebrations.
In this situation, the Police Commissioner warned that drivers who refuse rides, cancel bookings without reason, or demand more money than the booked fare will face strict action. He said cases will be booked under the Motor Vehicles Act, Section 178(3)(b) against those who break the rules.
The Commissioner also urged citizens not to remain silent if they face such issues. People have been asked to file complaints immediately if any driver cancels a ride or demands extra fare.
WhatsApp Number for Complaints
The Hyderabad Police have shared an official WhatsApp number: 9490616555 for public complaints. Citizens should send:
- Vehicle number
- Time and place of the incident
- Screenshot of the ride or booking details
Police officials said they will respond quickly and take legal action against violators.
It is noted that due to heavy demand on December 31, online cab platforms often increase fares and cancellations become common. To prevent inconvenience to the public, Hyderabad Police have issued these guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth New Year celebration for everyone.
