Asaduddin Owaisi Questions India-Pakistan Cricket Match Amid Terror Concerns

New Delhi, 10 August – (www.deccanlive.com): AIMIM chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has raised strong objections to the upcoming Asia Cup cricket match between India and Pakistan. Criticizing the central government, he asked how the match was allowed when Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has said in the past that “water and blood cannot flow together” and that “talks and terrorism cannot go hand in hand.”

Speaking on a national media podcast, Owaisi said he was shocked to learn that India will play Pakistan in Dubai. “India has cut trade ties with Pakistan and even closed airspace, but now they are ready to play cricket? I will not watch this match,” he declared. He questioned how the BCCI got permission for the game, adding that cricket in India is treated like an obsession that stops everything else.

Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where civilians were killed in front of their families, Owaisi said, “When such brutal incidents happen, there is no point in playing cricket with Pakistan. The match should be boycotted.”

He also responded to Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement that “Hindu terrorism does not exist” by asking, “Who killed Mahatma Gandhi? Who killed Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi? Maybe Amit Shah has forgotten.” Owaisi blamed security lapses for the Pahalgam attack, questioning how militants entered despite heavy military presence and criticizing the government for failing to prevent terrorism even after the removal of Article 370.
