In a deeply disturbing case, a father killed his own daughter just to become eligible to contest local body elections. The shocking crime came to light after the body of a young girl was found in a canal in Telangana’s Nizamabad district.

The incident took place near the ARP Camp area of Edapally mandal, where police found the girl’s body in the Nizamsagar D-46 canal on January 30. After receiving the information, police reached the spot, registered a case, and began an investigation.

During the probe, police formed three special teams to identify the victim and trace the accused. The girl was later identified as Prachi Kondamangale, a resident of Mukhed town in Maharashtra.

Further investigation revealed a shocking truth — Prachi was murdered by her own father.

Why did the father commit the crime?

The accused, Kondamangale Pandurang, is a resident of Kerur village in Mukhed taluka, Maharashtra. He runs a small salon and lives with his wife and three children.

According to police, Pandurang wanted to contest the upcoming village panchayat elections as a sarpanch candidate. He believed that having three children would make him ineligible to contest elections in Maharashtra, even though such a rule has been removed in Telangana.

Initially, Pandurang and the current sarpanch Shinde Ganesh planned to give one of the children up for adoption. However, since the child’s birth certificate was already issued, they tried to get it changed at the Pune Corporation office. When officials told them that the birth certificate could not be altered, they planned a brutal crime.

How the crime was committed

As part of the plan, Pandurang took his elder daughter Prachi on his bike, telling her they were going to visit relatives. Trusting her father, the child happily went along with him.

He brought her to Nizamabad district in Telangana and pushed her into the canal near the ARP Camp, leading to her death. The accused then planned to project the incident as a missing case.

However, police investigation exposed the truth.

Police action

Police have confirmed that the father is the main accused in the case. Further investigation is ongoing to find out if others were directly involved in planning or helping with the crime.

The incident has shocked people in both Telangana and Maharashtra, raising serious concerns about child safety and inhuman acts driven by political ambition.
