Back-to-back draws: 7,500 ITAs issued in two days
IRCC held a CEC draw (May 27) issuing 3,000 invitations at CRS 518, followed the very next day by a French-language draw issuing 4,500 invitations at CRS 409 – resuming the regular draw cycle after two PNP-only draws in May.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION – DEADLINE JUNE 14
IRCC accepting public input on 2027â2029 Immigration Levels Plan
The consultation runs May 12 â June 14, 2026.
Key government targets:
- Cap temporary residents below 5% of Canada’s population by 2027
- Keep annual PR admissions under 1%
- Increase Francophone immigration to 12% by 2029
NEW 2026 EXPRESS ENTRY CATEGORIES
10 active categories – including doctors, researchers & senior managers
IRCC added five new categories in February 2026:
- Senior Managers
- Researchers
- Transport Workers
- Skilled Military Recruits
- Physicians with Canadian work experience
The STEM category remains dormant.
All renewed categories now require 12 months of Canadian work experience (up from 6 months).
BILL C-12 – NOW LAW
Strengthened asylum rules in effect since March 2026
Bill C-12 received Royal Assent on March 26, 2026.
Asylum claims filed more than one year after first entry into Canada (after June 24, 2020) will no longer be referred to the IRB – one of four major changes now in effect.
