Iran Launches Advanced Khorramshahr-4 Ballistic Missile in Latest Strike

Iran has reportedly launched one of its most powerful ballistic missiles, known as Khorramshahr-4, during its latest military strikes early Thursday, according to Iranian sources.

The Khorramshahr-4 missile is considered one of Iran’s most advanced ballistic missiles and belongs to the fourth generation of the Khorramshahr missile series. Iranian aerospace forces developed and produced the missile as part of the country’s growing missile program.

According to available details, the missile has a range of about 2,000 kilometers, allowing it to reach distant targets. It can travel at hypersonic speeds, reaching up to Mach 16 outside the Earth’s atmosphere and around Mach 8 within the atmosphere.

The missile is capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 1,500 kilograms, making it a powerful weapon in long-range attacks.

One of its key features is that it does not require guidance in the final stage of its flight after re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere. This capability allows it to strike its target with high precision.

The Khorramshahr-4 is powered by a locally developed liquid-fuel engine called “Arvand.” Iranian officials describe it as one of the country’s most advanced rocket engines. Its extremely high speed also makes it difficult for air defense systems to detect or intercept.

Iran first unveiled the Khorramshahr-4 missile in 2023. Iranian sources say the missile can be prepared and launched much faster than older ballistic missile models. It also uses a guidance and control system during the mid-flight phase to improve accuracy before hitting its target.

The use of this missile signals the introduction of a new and more advanced weapon in the ongoing regional conflict.
