Hyderabad Police Conduct Midnight Raids on Rowdy Sheeters’ Houses in Old City

In a strong message to criminal elements, the Charminar Zone Police conducted large-scale surprise raids on the houses of rowdy sheeters in the Old City of Hyderabad on Saturday night.

The special operation was led by DCP Charminar Zone Kiran Khare (IPS). Police officials said the main aim of the drive was to maintain law and order and prevent anti-social activities in the area.

Nearly 300 police personnel took part in the operation. Special teams, each led by two inspectors from every police station, were formed for the searches. The teams worked under the supervision of concerned ACPs.

In the limits of Rein Bazar Police Station, teams led by Mirchowk ACP Shyam Sunder, Inspector Netaji, DI Naeemuddin, sub-inspectors and women police staff conducted detailed searches at several identified houses.

Among those whose houses were searched were individuals identified as Umar Khan, Arif Khan, Ghouse Uddin, Khalil Uddin, Saeed Uddin and Jaffer Hussain.

Police searched for deadly weapons, ganja and other prohibited items. However, no illegal material was recovered during the operation.

Later, addressing a press conference, DCP Kiran Khare said that simultaneous searches were conducted at more than 90 rowdy sheeters’ houses across the Charminar Zone.

He stated that such operations, including “cordon and search,” “Operation Chabutra,” and vehicle checking drives, will continue regularly. Police also said that counselling sessions will be conducted for rowdy sheeters in the coming days, both during daytime and at night.

Citizens have been urged to report any suspicious activity by dialling 100 or informing the nearest police station.
