Maulana Peer Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi, one of the most respected spiritual leaders of the Naqshbandi Sufi order, passed away on Sunday, December 14, in Jhang city of Punjab province, Pakistan. His death has caused deep sorrow across religious, scholarly, and spiritual circles around the world.
Born on April 1, 1953, Maulana Peer Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi was a well-known Islamic scholar, reformer, and spiritual guide. He had formal spiritual authority (ijazah and khilafat) in the Naqshbandi order. At the age of 40, he resigned from a senior professional position as General Manager (Planning and Development) and dedicated his entire life to serving Islam, social reform, and spiritual training.
He traveled to more than 60 countries, delivering lectures and conducting spiritual gatherings that influenced millions of people. His deep love for Allah, strong attachment to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and strict adherence to Islamic law earned him respect from scholars and students alike. Thousands of religious scholars and Islamic students were among his followers.
Maulana Peer Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi was also a prolific writer. He authored several books, and more than 200 books based on his speeches and teachings have been published. Many of these works were translated into different languages. His followers can be found across America, Africa, Southeast Asia, Russia, and Australia.
According to sources, his funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Janaza) will be held on Monday, December 15, at 11:00 AM in Jhang, where a large number of scholars, spiritual leaders, and devotees from across the country are expected to attend.
The passing of Maulana Peer Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi marks the end of an era in the world of Islamic spirituality, but his teachings and legacy will continue to guide generations to come.
