A heartbreaking story has emerged from the recent Saudi Arabia bus fire accident. The only survivor from the tragedy, 24-year-old Mohammed Abdul Shoaib, returned to Hyderabad on Tuesday after two weeks of treatment in a Saudi hospital. Still struggling with severe burn injuries on his hands and legs, Shoaib described the terrifying incident that killed his parents and grandfather right in front of him.
Speaking to the media, Shoaib said the fire spread inside the bus “like bullets coming out of a gun.” He recalled that flames broke through the windows within seconds, trapping everyone inside.
“I don’t even remember how I jumped out of the burning bus. All I know is that the fire swallowed everything in moments,” he said, breaking down as he remembered watching his father Abdul Khadeer (57), mother Gausiya Begum (46) and grandfather Mohammed Moulana (65) burn alive.
On November 9, a group of 46 people had left for Umrah. After visiting Masjid-e-Haram in Makkah, they were traveling to Madinah on the night of November 16. Around 1:30 am, their bus crashed into a parked diesel tanker, causing a massive explosion and fire.
Shoaib said he feels he survived only by God’s grace. With his injuries still causing difficulty in movement, he urged the government to support his treatment and help his family with a job for their survival.
