Telangana Panchayat Election Schedule Released; Voting to Be Held in Three Phases

The Telangana State Election Commission on Wednesday released the official schedule for the upcoming Panchayat elections. State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini shared the full details during a press conference.

She announced that the Panchayat elections will be held in three phases across the state. The election rules will come into effect immediately after the notification is issued.

According to the schedule, polling will take place on December 11, 14, and 17.

Kumudini said that voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the counting of votes will begin at 2 p.m. on the same day.

She reminded that although the election schedule had been announced earlier on September 29, it was postponed on October 9 due to certain reasons.

Details of the Three Phases

Phase 1: Elections for 4,200 Sarpanch posts and 37,440 ward positions
Phase 2: Elections for 4,333 Sarpanch posts and 38,350 wards
Phase 3: Elections for 4,159 Sarpanch posts and 36,452 wards

The Commissioner said there are 1.66 crore registered voters in the state’s villages.

Nomination Dates

Phase 1: Nominations will be accepted from November 27
Phase 2: Nominations start from November 30
Phase 3: Nominations will begin from December 3

The Panchayat elections are expected to be one of the largest local body polls in the state, involving thousands of village-level positions.
