A major controversy has erupted in Ideal College, Kalyan, after three Muslim students were forced to apologise for offering Friday prayers inside an empty classroom.

According to reports, members of VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) and Bajrang Dal confronted the students and accused them of “hurting religious sentiments.” A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

In the video, the students can be seen holding their ears and doing sit-ups, apologising in front of a picture of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, while some members of the groups chant “Jai Shri Ram.”

Parents Outraged

Parents expressed strong anger over the incident.
One parent said, “My son was forced to bow in front of an idol and humiliated publicly. Where was the police when he needed protection?”

College Says It Violated Rules

The college management called the incident an “internal issue”, saying that religious activities are not allowed on campus and the students violated the rules by praying in the classroom.

Community Groups Demand Action

Local Muslim organisations and opposition leaders condemned the act, calling it religious intimidation and a violation of constitutional rights. They demanded strict action against the workers of the Hindu groups and an inquiry into alleged police negligence.

The incident continues to spark debates on student rights, religious freedom and campus safety in Maharashtra.
