Hyderabad Umrah Pilgrims Likely to Be Buried in Jannat al-Baqi; Telangana Delegation Inspects Arrangements

A delegation from the Telangana Government met senior officials from the Government of India and the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia to review the ongoing arrangements for the last rites of the Hyderabad pilgrims who died in the recent Madinah accident.
The Telangana team included Mohammed Azharuddin Minister for Public Enterprises & Minority Welfare – Govt of Telangana, MLA Majid Hussain and Secretary B. Shafiullah, acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. They held a detailed meeting with S. Abdul Nazeer, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary (CPV & OIA) in the Ministry of External Affairs, and Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
According to the delegation, all required formalities are being completed, and the funeral is expected to take place on Friday, most likely at the holy cemetery Jannat al-Baqi in Madinah.
The Telangana representatives expressed their gratitude to the Government of Saudi Arabia and all officials involved for their support and cooperation during this difficult time.
Umrah Pilgrims Likely to Be Buried in Jannat al-Baqi
The Hyderabad Umrah pilgrims who died in the tragic road accident near Madinah are likely to be buried in Jannat al-Baqi, the historic Islamic cemetery in the holy city. According to sources, Saudi authorities are currently carrying out DNA matching and other formal procedures.
Bodies Difficult to Identify
Officials said the accident was so severe that the bodies were badly burnt, making identification extremely difficult. Authorities are trying their best to correctly identify every victim so that the burial can be done according to Islamic religious guidelines.
Burial Expected in Jannat al-Baqi
Once the identification process and formalities are completed, the bodies are expected to be laid to rest in Jannat al-Baqi, a holy and historic cemetery in Madinah where many prominent Islamic figures are buried.
How the Accident Happened
The accident took place early Monday morning near Madinah when a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims collided with a fuel tanker.
A total of 45 Indian citizens lost their lives in the crash. Saudi officials have confirmed that one Indian survivor is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
