Several passengers have lodged complaints against TSRTC drivers for using mobile phones while driving, putting passengers’ lives at risk. Despite multiple accidents and strict rules, some drivers continue to flout safety norms.
According to reports, a passenger named Arjun, who was traveling from Vijayawada to LB Nagar on October 31 in an e-Garuda bus from BHEL depot, noticed that the driver was talking on the phone while driving. The driver was seen operating the phone with one hand and steering the bus with the other, creating a dangerous situation. Arjun recorded a video of the incident and submitted a complaint to RTC officials.
In another case on October 24, a passenger named Surendra, who boarded a Pushpak bus from Shamshabad Airport to Miyapur Crossroads, experienced a similar situation where the driver used his mobile phone while driving.
Passengers say that even after several bus accidents, the behavior of some RTC drivers remains unchanged. Whether it is high-end Garuda services, Pushpak buses, or city ordinary buses, many drivers are seen using mobile phones during duty hours.
According to RTC regulations, drivers must switch off their mobile phones and deposit them with the depot security officer before starting their duty. However, many are ignoring these rules, endangering passenger safety.
Even in private buses, similar violations are becoming common, raising serious safety concerns.
How to File a Complaint
If passengers notice a driver using a mobile phone while driving, they are advised to immediately inform the bus conductor or the depot manager. Complaints can also be registered through the official TSRTC website at: https://www.tgsrtc.telangana.gov.in.
Under the “Contact Us” section, the site lists call center numbers and contact details of depot managers for each region.
Officials have assured that strict action will be taken against drivers found violating these safety guidelines.
