Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has once again become the center of attention — this time for his controversial statements about Hyderabad’s development. Speaking at a “Minority Welfare Day” event in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Naidu claimed that he was the key figure behind the modern growth of Hyderabad and that his initiatives made the city’s Muslims millionaires.

Naidu went further to say that it was his vision that led to the construction of the international airport near the Old City, and that the Outer Ring Road (ORR) was also built because of his planning. He added that his government’s efforts not only boosted Hyderabad’s infrastructure but also gave global recognition to Hyderabadi Biryani and promoted the city’s traditional pearl trade, encouraging visitors from across the country to shop in Hyderabad.

However, these remarks have triggered strong reactions on social media. Many users questioned his claims, asking sarcastically, “When was an international airport built near the Old City?” and “How could Naidu make Hyderabadi Biryani famous when it has been celebrated since the Nizam era?”

Critics on X (formerly Twitter) and other platforms accused Naidu of trying to take credit for Hyderabad’s centuries-old cultural and historical legacy, calling his statements “ridiculous and self-glorifying.” Some netizens even mocked him, saying if he continued making such claims, people might start doubting his mental state.

Political analysts believe these statements could spark further debates between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana supporters, especially given Hyderabad’s historic and cultural significance.
