Heavy rains that continued through Tuesday night caused severe flooding in several parts of Telangana’s Devarakonda mandal in Nalgonda district, leaving a Gurukul (Tribal Welfare Boys’ Residential) School completely surrounded by floodwaters.

According to officials, water from a nearby stream overflowed into the school premises at Kommapalli village, trapping nearly 500 students inside. As floodwaters rapidly entered the school, panic spread among the students, and many of them began shouting for help.

Emergency rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched relief operations. With the help of ropes and local rescue personnel, all students were safely evacuated from the flooded building.

District Collector Ila Tripathi personally visited the school to review the situation and ensure the safety of the students. Authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported, and the students have been moved to a safer location.

Officials are monitoring the water levels closely as continuous rainfall continues to threaten low-lying areas in the district.
