A shocking incident in Maharashtra has stirred widespread outrage. A young doctor committed suicide, leaving behind a handwritten note on her hand accusing a police officer of repeated sexual assault.

According to the note, Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne allegedly sexually abused her four times and subjected her to five months of mental and physical harassment. The doctor had also written a letter to the DSP before her death, naming three police officers, including Sub-Inspector Badne, and demanding action and justice—requests that went unaddressed.

The incident has sparked a political storm in the state. The Congress party has accused the ruling government of protecting the police and questioned why no action was taken on her complaints earlier.

Following public outrage, the accused Sub-Inspector has been suspended, and special teams have been formed to arrest him. The Maharashtra State Women’s Commission has also taken notice and directed the police to take immediate action.

This tragic case is not just about a suicide—it raises serious questions about the failure of the justice system. When those tasked with protecting citizens abuse their power, how can justice prevail?
