Sheikh Riaz Buried at Dawn Under Tight Security After Nizamabad Encounter

Sheikh Riyaz, the accused who allegedly stabbed police constable Pramod Kumar to death on October 17, was buried early Tuesday morning amid tight security in Nizamabad.
According to reports, Riyaz’s post-mortem was conducted at the Nizamabad Government General Hospital and continued until around 2 a.m. His body was handed over to his family around 3 a.m. under heavy police security. The burial took place at a graveyard on Bodhan Road during the early hours of dawn (Fajr), attended only by family members and close relatives.
Riyaz, who had been on the run after killing constable Pramod Kumar, was arrested on Sunday from the outskirts of the city. He was reportedly hiding inside the cabin of an abandoned lorry.
Police sources said that during the arrest, Riyaz tried to escape and attacked a local bike mechanic, Syed Asif, with a knife, injuring him. A brief scuffle followed, during which Riyaz also sustained injuries. He was taken into custody and shifted to the Nizamabad Government Hospital for treatment.
However, while undergoing treatment, Riyaz allegedly tried to snatch a constable’s gun and escape, prompting the police to open fire. He was killed in the encounter that followed.
Following the incident, police increased security around the hospital to prevent any untoward situations. Officials confirmed that Riyaz had several criminal cases registered against him in the past.
