Legendary Wrestler Hulk Hogan Dies at 71 After Heart Attack

Florida, 25 July – (www.deccanlive.com): Legendary professional wrestler Hulk Hogan has died at the age of 71 following a heart attack, according to international media reports.

Hogan, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, passed away on Thursday at his home in Clearwater, Florida. Emergency medical teams were called after reports of a heart attack, but despite CPR and urgent hospital transfer, he could not survive.

Born on August 11, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia, Hogan moved to Florida with his family and began his wrestling journey in the 1970s. Despite severe injuries during training, he pursued his passion, building his iconic muscular physique and adopting the name “Hulk” due to his resemblance to the comic book character.

Hogan became a household name in the 1980s, defeating Iron Sheik in 1984 to win the WWF Championship, which he held for four years. His appearance in Rocky III as “Thunderlips” further boosted his popularity, and he played a key role in making events like WrestleMania global successes.

Later, Hogan joined WCW, where he transformed into “Hollywood Hogan” and led the New World Order (nWo), revitalizing his career. In 2002, he returned to WWE and famously faced The Rock at WrestleMania.

Hogan was inducted twice into the WWE Hall of Fame and is regarded as one of wrestling’s most influential figures. However, his career was not without controversy, including a leaked private video case against Gawker, for which he won \$140 million, leading to the site’s closure, and a temporary WWE suspension in 2015 over racist comments.

Outside wrestling, Hogan appeared in films, TV shows, and his reality series “Hogan Knows Best” (2005–2007). He was married three times and had two children.

Hulk Hogan’s contributions to wrestling made him one of the sport’s biggest icons, transforming professional wrestling into a global entertainment phenomenon.
