Hamas Submits Response on Gaza Ceasefire Proposal to Mediators

Gaza, 24 July – (PIC): The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas announced on Thursday morning that it has formally submitted its response regarding the proposed ceasefire in Gaza to mediators.
In a brief statement, Hamas said that the response was finalized after consultations with its allied Palestinian factions and has been handed over to the “brotherly mediators.” No further details of the response were disclosed.
Meanwhile, the White House reiterated on Wednesday its desire for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a swift hostage-prisoner exchange deal.
According to a White House spokesperson, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Wietkov will meet top Middle Eastern officials in Europe, including in Italy, to discuss the key points of a possible agreement.
Reports from U.S. and Israeli media indicate that Israel’s military chief has briefed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the deteriorating situation on the ground. Netanyahu has reportedly acknowledged that a significant portion of the Israeli public now supports ending the war.
Since October 2023, Israel has waged a full-scale, devastating war on Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 59,000 Palestinians, injuries to more than 143,000, and the mass displacement of nearly the entire population. Local and international reports describe the destruction as the worst seen since World War II.
Over the past 21 months, Qatar and Egypt have mediated several indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, leading to two temporary agreements — one in November 2023 and another in January 2025. However, Netanyahu later backtracked on the second deal and resumed the large-scale offensive on March 18.
The ongoing war continues to devastate Palestinian lives and has become a moral test for the global community, with calls growing for an immediate end to the bloodshed.
