Air India Plane Catches Fire After Landing in Delhi

New Delhi, 22 July – (www.deccanlive.com): An Air India flight (AI 315), coming from Hong Kong to Delhi, caught fire after landing at Delhi Airport on 22 July 2025. The fire started in the auxiliary power unit (APU) of the aircraft, which is a small engine used to power the systems when the plane is on the ground.
The fire began after the plane had parked at the gate and passengers had started to get off. According to Air India, the APU shut down automatically as it was supposed to, and no one was hurt. All passengers and crew members are safe.
The airline said the aircraft got some damage due to the fire. The plane has now been grounded, and the aviation regulator has been informed. A full investigation is being done.
The Delhi Airport authorities (DIAL) also confirmed that an investigation is going on.
This incident comes just days after two other problems with Air India planes:
- One Air India flight from Delhi to Kolkata had to cancel take-off due to a technical issue.
- Another flight from Kochi to Mumbai (AI 2744) went off the runway while landing in Mumbai. After that, the runway at Mumbai airport was temporarily closed.
These back-to-back incidents are raising concerns about Air India’s safety and aircraft maintenance.
